Where the World Meets was born as a small gift shop where local crafters and artisans displayed and sold their handmade products. Since then, it has grown into a creative cultural collection of authentic gifts and goods from all continents — each created or imported by a team of residents with ties to various countries around the world. Items from the Pacific Islands, Asia, Africa, and Latin America are accompanied by stories about the people who make them and the histories of their homelands.
An exciting journey begins when you walk in the door and discover a whole new world. From one-of-a-kind handcrafted gifts to ethnic clothing and accessories, the store overflows with color and texture found nowhere else in San Diego. Plans are in the works for expanding Where the World Meets into the surrounding Festival Park at Market Creek Plaza. An International Outreach Team is designing, decorating, and furnishing cultural houses in the style of their homelands. They are developing workshops and hands-on learning experiences to help guests understand and embrace their cultures while offering customers a wider range of hard-to-find goods.
